FAQ
It seems more and more cruise lines offer world cruises each year. They vary in lenth and certainly in destinations, so there are many things to conisder before booking your world cruise including ship size, stateroom selection, price, cruise duration, destinations featured in the itinerary, accessibility, dining options, how inclusive the cruise line is, Wi-Fi, and more. A very important item to consider is the general makeup of your fellow passengers - after all, you will be spending a lot of time with them. Our World Cruise Travel Advisors are here to help you answer these questions and narrow down cruises to find you the cruise that is BEST for YOU.
This is entirely up to you and dependent on how much time you can allow for a world cruise. If you are new to cruising and want to test the waters, you can easily find world cruise sectors and exotic oyages beginning from a couple of weeks to get started. If you are an avid cruiser and have plenty of time, why not try a full world cruise up to 130 to 140 nights to see some spectacular destinations.
This will mostly depend on your chosen itinerary and the time of year that you are sailing. Check out our tips on what to pack for much more information on this topcic.
You will find MORE than enough to do on those days when you are not in port. See our section on "What to do on Sea Days" for a starter list of things to consider.
This will depend on the cruise line you ahve chosen to sail with. Many luxury cruise lines tend to have between 1 or 2 formal nights per week. Your Travel Advisor can help give you advise on this for the particular cruise you are going on.
There are a few things you will want to put into place before you leave. After all, you will be leaving home for a couple of months. Who would pick up the mail? Or do you simply want to have the post office hold it for you? The USPS now has a service where you can see all the mail that is to be delivered to you via the internet. Be sure to put any recurring bills on automatic bill pay, or you can pay them online through your bank or via credit card. Have someone check on your hosue and water those plants.
When choosing your stateroom for world cruise, the most important things to consider are comfort, space, and location (and, of course, price). You could be at sea for a few months, so make sure you pick a comfortable stateroom with enough space to give you a home away from home. If you can, go for a balcony cabin so you can take in the countless amazing views during your voyage. Speak to your travel advisor about the location of your stateroom. To avoid unwanted noise, you might want to be away from busy areas like elevators and main points of access. If you're solo and sociable, you may want the opposite and to be near the action.
The best time to book a world cruise is typically from the moment the cruise goes on sale. Prices don't tend to fail so the best value staterooms get snapped up quickly by those in the know. Walk with your Travel Advisor and they can notify you the moment the World Cruises are open to book (or earlier). They can hold space for you for a short time for you to decide.
